A deck is the outdoor extension of how a house actually gets used. We build them to fit the way you live, not the showroom photo: a grilling spot off the kitchen, a sunset corner, stairs that meet a real path through the yard.
Most of our decks are pressure-treated framing with composite or cedar deck boards, ground-set for typical Ozark backyards. We’ll work through the permit step with you, set the footings below frost line, and frame to current code — many older decks in our area were built before the bracket and span requirements that came in over the last decade.
The visible parts are where the design lives. Railing style, stair location, the pattern of the boards, the trim that hides the framing — these are the choices we’ll spend time on with you.

- Stairs, landings, and built-in seating
- Repairs and structural retrofits
How we work
From first walk-through to final cleanup.
-
Walk the back of the house
Door height, sight lines, sun exposure, and how you'll actually use the space.
-
Design conversation
Size, shape, materials, railing style, stairs vs grade-level. Sketch reviewed with you before any work starts.
-
Permit and plan
Most decks attached to a house need a permit and an inspector visit. We'll discuss the requirements with you and coordinate on who handles what.
-
Footings and framing
Set footings below frost line, square the frame, level twice.
-
Decking and trim
Installed with hidden fasteners where the material allows. Fascia and trim cut clean.
-
Railing and finish
Code-compliant railing, post caps, stairs, final cleanup.

Common questions
Answered straight.
Wood or composite?
Pressure-treated is cheapest upfront, will need staining or sealing every 2–3 years, lasts 20–30 years. Composite is 2–3x the material cost but no staining and a 25-year warranty. Cedar splits the difference. We'll talk through what fits your maintenance tolerance.
Do I need a permit?
Yes, in nearly every jurisdiction in our area, for any attached deck or any deck more than 30 inches off grade. We'll go through the permit process with you upfront — if you've already started with the city, share what you have, and we'll figure out the rest together.
How long does a deck take to build?
Most residential decks are 1–2 weeks on site, depending on size, weather, and inspections.
Can you build off an existing footing?
Sometimes. We'll evaluate the existing structure — many older decks were under-built by today's code, and the fix is usually new footings.
Do you build pergolas?
Yes. Pergolas tie a patio or deck together and give you shade structure without committing to a roofed addition.
