A fence has to do its job — keep dogs in, keep deer out, define the property line, screen a view — and look like it belongs to the house and the yard. The variables are mostly material, height, and how the gate works.
We build wood, vinyl, aluminum, and chain link fences across Republic, Springfield, Ozark, Nixa, and Battlefield. Most of the privacy fences we install are 6-foot cedar or pressure-treated pine. For pet containment without view-blocking, aluminum or chain link does the job.
Posts are the part that determines how long a fence stands. We set them in concrete, below frost line, and let them cure before hanging the panels. Cutting that corner is why so many fences in our area lean within a few years.
What a typical job touches
Most jobs include some mix of these.
- Property line verification (you confirm boundary; we recommend a survey when in doubt)
- Permit pulling where required
- Material consultation — cedar, pressure-treated pine, vinyl, aluminum, chain link
- Posts set in concrete below frost line
- Gate installation — single, double, walk-through
- Repairs — replace posts, reset leaning sections, replace damaged panels

Permit if needed
Most cities require a permit for fences over 6 feet, and HOAs often have their own rules. We'll talk through what applies to your project — if you've already checked with your city or HOA, share what you've learned.
-
Set posts
1/3 of the post buried, set in concrete below frost line. We let posts cure before hanging panels.
-
Panels and gates
Installed plumb. Gates hung with the right hinges for the weight, hardware appropriate for outdoor use.

Common questions
Answered straight.
Do I need a permit?
In Springfield and most surrounding cities, fences over 6 feet require a permit. Front-yard fences often have height limits. HOAs frequently have material and color rules. We'll discuss what applies to your property — if you've already checked with your HOA or city, share what you've learned and we'll go from there.
What's the lifespan of a fence?
Pressure-treated pine: 15–20 years with maintenance. Cedar: 20–30 years. Vinyl: 30+ years. Aluminum: lifetime for the metal — posts may need replacing eventually. Chain link: 20+ years for the fabric.
Can you remove my old fence?
Yes. Removal and disposal is a line item on the quote.
