Stone & Hardscaping
Patios and walkways that earn their place.
A patio either feels like part of the house or it doesn’t. The difference is mostly about scale and material — how big it is relative to the yard, how it transitions to the lawn, what it’s made of, and how its edges meet the world.
We build paver and natural stone patios across Republic, Springfield, Ozark, Nixa, and Battlefield. Most are between 200 and 600 square feet — enough for a table, chairs, and a grill, sized to the back of the house. Smaller for landings, larger for entertaining.
The build itself is mostly base work. By the time the pavers go down, the hard part is done. A patio with a properly compacted aggregate base, edge restraint, and polymeric joints will outlast most of the things on it.
What a typical job touches
Most jobs include some mix of these.
- Paver patios — concrete and clay paver
- Natural stone patios — flagstone, bluestone, limestone
- Walkways and stepping-stone paths
- Landscape borders and edging
- Fire pits and seat walls
- Outdoor kitchen pads and base prep
- Repair and re-leveling of settled hardscapes
How we work
From first walk-through to final cleanup.
-
Layout in the yard
We dry-mark the shape with paint or hose, walk it, adjust until it feels right.
-
Excavate to depth
Patios sit on a deeper base than people think. We dig 6–8" minimum for residential paver patios.
-
Compacted aggregate base
Multiple lifts of road base, compacted between each. This is the structure.
-
Edge restraint and bedding sand
Proper edge restraint is what keeps a patio from spreading.
-
Set the stone
Pavers laid in pattern, stone laid for fit. Cuts done with a wet saw to keep edges clean.
-
Polymeric sand and seal
Joints filled with polymeric sand, swept clean, watered in. Sealer is optional and can wait a year.

Common questions
Answered straight.
How long do paver patios last?
Done correctly, the base is good for the life of the house. Pavers themselves are warrantied 25+ years from most manufacturers — and they can be lifted and reset if anything settles.
Pavers vs poured concrete?
Pavers cost more upfront but don't crack, can be repaired piece by piece, and look better in most settings. Poured concrete is faster and cheaper, but cracks are when, not if, in our freeze-thaw climate.
Natural stone or paver?
Pavers are more predictable, faster to install, and easier to replace. Natural stone is one of a kind and ages beautifully but costs more in both materials and labor. Both have their place.
Can I add a fire pit later?
Yes, but it's far easier to build it into the original patio. We can cap conduit for gas if you want a gas pit later.
